Report: Moldova insists on gas payments delay until end of 2022

CHISINAU, Aug 24 (PRIME) -- Russian gas giant Gazprom is the key shareholder of Moldovagaz and must allow the company to delay payments for supplies until the end of 2022, Moldova’s Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spinu told Pro TV on Wednesday.

"Moldovagaz must find a mutually acceptable solution with Gazprom that controls 65% of shares and is in fact a shareholder of Moldovagaz,” Spinu said.

”The government did its best last year to pay on time. Now is the time for Moldovagas’ largest shareholder accept its request to pay later, until the end of 2022."

Moldovagaz CEO Vadim Ceban said on Monday that his company had paid Gazprom for the gas received in July and asked for a delay on an advance payment for August.

Moldovagaz also earlier asked Gazprom to delay the advance payments for August and September until December.

Gazprom said that the company delayed the advance payment deadline until September 1.
